Lifetime of quasiparticles in hot gauge theories
نویسنده
چکیده
The perturbative calculation of the lifetime of charged excitations in ultrarelativistic plasmas is plagued with infrared divergences which are not eliminated by the screening corrections. The physical processes responsible for these divergences are the collisions involving the exchange of longwavelength, quasistatic, magnetic gluons (or photons), which are not screened by plasma effects. In QED, the leading divergences can be resummed in a non-perturbative treatement based on a generalization of the BlochNordsieck model at finite temperature. The resulting expression of the fermion propagator is free of infrared problems, and exhibits a non-exponential damping at large times: SR(t) ∼ exp{−αT t lnωpt}, where ωp = eT/3 is the plasma frequency and α = e /4π. Relaxation and Thermal Conductivity of Hot and Thermal Quasiparticles and Fermi Liquid Interactions in d-wave Superconductors
In this paper, we calculate theoretically the relaxation rates of hot, thermal and antinodal quasiparticles by using Fermi’s golden rule. The transition probabilities at low temperatures express in terms of Bogoliubov coefficients, singlet and triplet scattering amplitudes and dimensionless Landau parameters. The values of Landau parameters may be determined by comparison with the experimental ...
متن کاملLifetime of quasiparticles in hot QED plasmas.
The calculation of the lifetime of quasiparticles in a QED plasma at high temperature remains plagued with infrared divergences, even after one has taken into account the screening corrections. The physical processes responsible for these divergences are the collisions involving the exchange of very soft, unscreened, magnetic photons, whose contribution is enhanced by the thermal Bose-Eisntein ...
متن کاملDesign and Simulation of Hot Cathode Ionization Vacuum Gauge with no X-Ray Limitations
In this paper, the MEMS type ionization gauge with no X-Ray limitations has been presented. Having the dimensions of 2.4 mm× 0.8mm × 1.4 mm, the designed gauge is 9000 times smaller than the conventional type and can operate in HV and UHV pressures up to 5×10-9 torr. Operating at the temperature of 750°C, the cathode of proposed gauge is implemented using nickel and works in a way in...
متن کاملDoped kagome system as exotic superconductor
A Chern-Simons theory for the doped spin-1/2 kagome system is constructed, from which it is shown that the system is an exotic superconductor that breaks time-reversal symmetry. It is also shown that the system carries minimal vortices of flux hc /4e as opposed to the usual hc /2e in conventional superconductors and contains fractional quasiparticles including fermionic quasiparticles with semi...
متن کاملThe Quasiparticle Structure of Hot Gauge Theories
The study of the ultrarelativistic plasmas in perturbation theory is plagued with infrared divergences which are not eliminated by the screening corrections. They affect, in particular, the computation of the lifetime of the elementary excitations, thus casting doubt on the validity of the quasiparticle picture. We show that, for Abelian plasmas at least, the infrared problem of the damping rat...
